I recently recieved a fun commission to work with this darling, metal brooch.  My client simply asked if I could come up with “something.”  She had found this piece when she was out thrifting with her sister, so it held more of a sentimental meaning than anything else.  I found several strands of vintage pearls and then hand tied a strand of vintage glass pearls for that perfect highlight of this important accent color to weave throughout. I’ve decided that I’m calling this design style a corsage collar.  There are so many darling flower pins out there that have a bit of a corsage style to them.  However, it’s often easier to wear a statement around your neck instead of on the lapel…especially if the outfit you’ve chosen...

Okay, you’re probably wondering, “What the heck do these things have to do with jewelry?” but I have the answer, and that answer is I believe anything can be repurposed to be personal, sparkly and amazingly gorgeous.  And that’s what this project was all about. A friend of mine is a fabulous outdoors woman, and she brought a couple of her prize possessions so I could create a unique, one-of-a-kind statement piece that she would be excited to wear.  She also raises bees and asked if there was any way I could incorporate a bee into the piece somehow.
